LONDON TOWNHOUSE
Chicago, Illinois
This project is a perfect example of our process. We originally worked with this client on a Converted Warehouse Loft in Milwaukee, WI, helping him fulfill his dream of transforming an abandoned warehouse into a luxury living space. When his job took him to Chicago, he envisioned a new space where he could have an entire floor to himself while offering a welcoming area for visiting friends and family. This allowed us to create an intimate, moody, dark, and dramatic aesthetic reminiscent of a small luxury hotel.
Lighting was key to this experience. We painted the walls, doors, trim, and ceiling in Sherwin Williams' "Black Magic," which set the mood and transformed the space into a rich background for texture, pattern, and color. To blend the old with the new, we paired clean-lined modern fixtures with vintage pieces.
The timeline was tight, as the client bought the property in September and needed to move in by February. Coming off a two-year project in Milwaukee, completing this in Chicago within five months seemed nearly impossible, especially with limited local connections. However, we acted quickly:
- Speed & Strategy: We sketched the plans in a few days, selected in-stock and readily available products, and refinished the floors to a deep, warm mocha with exposed grain.
- Local Expertise: We partnered with a local general contractor familiar with the development to navigate red tape and keep neighbors happy.
- Trusted Partners: Since Milwaukee is only 90 minutes away, we leveraged our trusted partners from the previous project to ensure smooth execution.
Working with a reliable team made all the difference, and we were able to bring the client's vision to life right on schedule.
