We won (3) GOLD and (2) Bronze Awards at the 2026 Milwaukee Magazine Home and Design Awards

Our recent project at The Point on the River is a 12-story condominium building originally developed in 2009. It sits at the unique confluence of the Milwaukee and Menomonee Rivers.

I love watching clients develop their personal taste into a space we are creating together. I consider myself a guide—how do I lead them toward their desired outcome while pushing them to think differently?

I’ve been reflecting on the first 6 months of 2026, and I wanted to share a few thoughts on the biggest topic I’ve been having with clients this year: COST

KMB Design | Consulting is honored to have two projects featured in the new book, Midwest Home: Interior Design in America's Heartland by Ryan Hainey, which launched this past March. This hardcover photography book showcases 20 diverse Midwestern homes, highlighting a unique design ethos of honesty, sustainability, and quiet beauty.

When asked about "trends," many designers are more likely to discuss what is falling out of favor rather than what is currently "in." At my firm, I believe that true personality is not a trend. Instead, design is about understanding who a client is and reflecting their unique identity through form, function, color, and comfort. Most importantly, it is about listening to how a client lives to create a space where they feel most at ease.

This rooftop penthouse in the 5th Ward, originally built in 1875 and reconstructed in 2002, offers beautiful views of the city and Milwaukee River. Our design objective was to update the space while maximizing its potential.

What a year it has been!

I have had the opportunity to work on so many interesting projects, but most importantly, I am grateful to have the best clients.

They are engaged, creative, and thoughtful, but above all, you know how to laugh and enjoy the journey toward creating your new space. Design is about more than just the final "pretty picture"; it is about the small decisions and intentional moves that transform a space and, ultimately, transform lives.

We were tasked with updating the clubroom at Library Hill Apartments, located at 740 W. Wisconsin Avenue. This space was originally developed in 1999 by the Milwaukee Redevelopment Corporation (MRC) in partnership with the Mandel Group as part of a significant downtown revitalization project. The goal was to transform a blighted block into workforce housing and retail, which included restoring historic buildings and adding new construction.

We had a wonderful time at the 2025 Magazine Home + Design Awards, and it was inspiring to see all the incredible work being done in our state!

We are thrilled to announce that we won:

GOLD for the Master Bathroom Remodel at The Point on the River

SILVER for our entire Condo project at The Point on the River

SILVER for our Decor/Remodel - Living Room at our Mequon project!

Our Marine Terminal Lofts client wanted to turn their library into a guest suite with a walk-in closet for their visiting family. We are also remodeled the adjacent bathroom to match the vibe of the homeowners next phase of their life. We are closed off the front of the room with custom doors to match the architecture of the exterior windows while expressing the beautiful concrete columns that are prevalent throughout the building.

Etta and I just got back from another visit to Lakewood with some of our favorite puppy dog friends. We swam and ate and paddelboarded and relaxed. It was wonderful.

We met this client in April 2024. They had the very specific goal of having their home remodeled and ready to enjoy for the holidays. We got to work and finished before Christmas. Take a look at our progress
